The best part of my time at UBC was actually during a time when the campus was closed to classes. The summer of 1997 was spent with good friends. It included the spectacular 1st Annual Animal Science Stampede, which was met with great enthusiasm by “summer” students and faculty as well. A second and no less enjoyable aspect of this summer was the “Chocolate Caper”. This was where my favorite bosses Maureen and Irene treated me to a sumptuous chocolate smorgasbord at the very classy Meridian Hotel” (now the Sutton Place Hotel). “This was a culture shock for us all to get out of our gumboots for the day. A very sweet memory indeed. Thanks, gals!
What a change to continue to a serious career in Range Management with the BC Ministry of Forests in 100 Mile House, where I was greatly honored to help bring pristine changes to grazing lands for the benefit of a wide variety of interests. My life has taken an exciting turn with the arrival of Anna Louise Betuzzi on July 9, 1998, to proud parents Chris Betuzzi and myself. She is a joy and I hope to impart some of my love of animals and nature to her by staying home as a full-time mother. I look back at the fun we all had with no regrets.”
Suzanne obviously developed some important life skills in the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at UBC while studying for her BSc Agr, and it was not all work!
