Bob Gilmour was born in Lethbridge , Alberta , in 1926 and graduated with a BSA in 1950.

After graduation Mr Gilmour had several jobs pertaining to agriculture, including surveying, seed buying, and sale of agricultural products and equipment. In 1953 he took up a career with the BC Land Service, which was then a branch of the Ministry of Lands and Forests. In May of that year he was posted to Quesnel as a Land Inspector responsible for the sale and leasing of Crown Lands (Provincial) in that area. During that period Mr Gilmour completed the requirements to become an accredited Professional Agrologist and a accredited member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada. In 1965 he was transferred to Kelowna , and then to Vancouver in 1969. He retired in 1986.

While in Quesnel Mr Gilmour met and married Sheila Arnold and they raised a family of two boys (John and Chris) and two daughters (Elizabeth and Susan, now deceased). Mr and Mrs Gilmour reside in North Vancouver , BC.
