Ken Wong was born in Vancouver, BC, in 1959 and received a BSc (Agr) with a Major in Plant Science in 1983.
Following graduation he took up a position with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (formerly Agriculture and Agrifood Canada) in 1984. He started out in ship inspection and then moved to inspection of plants and plant products as a primary products inspector in the Engineering and Scientific support group. In 1988 he took on program officer responsibilities with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency in dealing with import and export problems at the major lower mainland border points. This was followed by two years working at Vancouver International airport dealing with import and export shipments of plants and plant products. Since 1992 Ken has coordinated surveys for pests of quarantine significance; dealt with certification of export shipments and resolved problems with export and import shipments of plants and plant products.
Ken currently lives in Vancouver with his wife Maria and his two children Adam and Katherine.
