Harold Nordan was born in Vancouver in 1925 and graduated with a BA (1948), followed by a BSA (Animal Science) in 1950. He then entered graduate school and obtained an MSA (Animal Science) in 1954. This was followed by a PhD in 1959 from Oregon State University (Bacteriology) in 1959. He took up a faculty post in the Zoology Department at UBC and retired as Associate Professor Emeritus UBC in 1988.

Professor and Doreen Nordan reside in Langley, BC. They have a son and daughter, both UBC grads, and three grand-children residing in Langley , BC.
