Fred Salisbury was born in Vancouver in 1913. He graduated from UBC with a BA in 1935, then with a BSA in 1935. At UBC Fred excelled at athletics, especially running. He obtained a Master’s degree in Agriculture from Macdonald College of McGill University in 1937 and taught at the high school level.

During World War II Fred served overseas as a navigator in the RCAF. He returned to Vancouver to work for the Department of Veteran Affairs (Veterans’ Land Act Administration) until retirement. He was very active in community affairs in Burnaby and was a long-time member of Vancouver YMCA.

Fred passed away in Burnaby in 2003 at the age of 90.
