UBC, 1951, BSc, Agriculture (Horticulture)


Barry Peters was born in Vancouver in 1928 and graduated with a BSA (Horticulture) in 1951.

Following graduation, Mr Peters became a partner in a landscape design and construction company. Later he managed a garden shop, became sales and marketing manager of a fertilizer and chemical company. Upon retirement, Mr Peters became owner and operator of a farm and nursery. Recently, Mr Peters became a newspaper garden columnist and a nursery consultant.

Mr Peters has an excellent record of service to his profession. He is a Past President of the BC Institute of Agrologists, a Past Member of the BCIA Ethics Committee, a Councilor of the Agricultural Institute of Canada and Past President of the BC Landscape and Nursery Association.

His list of community interests and hobbies include serving as a Level 1 Judo Coach, Level 2 Fencing Coach, bagpiper and collector of military miniature figures.

Mr Peter and wife Hedy (Dyck) reside in Langley, BC. They have five children ranging in age from 14 to 45 years.
