UBC, 1996, BSc, Animal Science

Alyssa Bell Stoneman was born in Calgary in 1973 and received a BSc (Agr) degree in Animal Science (Wildlife) in 1996. While a student at UBC, she worked as a farm employee (poultry, horses and other livestock) and veterinary assistant.

After graduating from UBC Alyssa headed off to work in the environmental sector before coming back to her animal science roots. Her experiences have included: working in the Lower Mainland office of the BC Ministry of Environment office as a Contaminated Sites Technician and with the Recycling Council of British Columbia as their Chemicals Exchange Coordinator. Since 2000 she has worked at the BC SPCA on the development of a Humane Labelling and Accreditation Program.

“My time at UBC provided me with the background to move between various fields in the agriculture and environment sectors. I believe that the relationships built within the Faculty and throughout the industry shape and define what will happen once you embark on new adventures outside of UBC.”

Alyssa lives in Vancouver, BC with her husband Michael.
